You might be surprised to find links to your family that actually passed through this small town. A Mayor of Calgary, and a fire-chief and politician in Vancouver are only a couple of examples of Morewood’s influence on larger cities and proof that distant families may discover their roots in this small town in Ontario.

There would have been little material to start this site if not for a Doctor in New York. The late Dr. James Arnot MacGregor was indirectly the first to provide material for this site.
His incredible effort at taking snapshots from before the turn of the 20th century through the 1930’s in numerous small towns where he went to school, taught, administered as principal, joined the military during WWI, and worked at a mission in B.C. – will aid in the development of pages for the towns or cities of: Sparta, Ontario; Teulon, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Nakusp, B.C.; Kingston, Ontario; and Petawawa, Ontario.

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Ô Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits,

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
