We appreciate the emails thanking us for making family histories come to life, and strive to assist any genealogy effort connected to Eastern Ontario . If you have something related to Morewood history, including genealogy please post a comment and we’ll try to follow up with you.

Morewood.net was originally designed as a genealogical and historical archive for rural Canada. The original historical nature of the site continues to be maintained in the Virtual Museum. Morewood is a small community in Eastern Ontario just south of the nation’s capital. A bricks and mortar museum does not exist in this rural village so the virtual museum was created and has since enjoyed a steady flow of visitors from around the world.

  1. I would be interested to know if it would be possible to include Maurice Ogden Cheney’s name on the War Memorial in Morewood. He was killed in action 3 May 1917 near Vimy, in France, and I still have the newspaper clipping. His parents were Dexter (Deck) and Annie Cheney. Annie was my great aunt, older sister of my grandfather Walter Wyatt.
Would someone in Morewood be able to investigate the cost, if any, or viability of adding his name?

  2. I’ve been absent for a while, but now I remember why I used to love this web site. Thank you, I’ll try and check back more frequently. How frequently you update your site?
