Along Main Street, between the Odd Fellow’s Hall and Mam John Hunter’s property was an empty lot that found itself used for Morewood’s first skating rink around 1900, where the town also hosted a masquerade carnival.

“It was at the first masquerade carnival at which I received my first and only carnival prize. It was a ladies red umbrella, awarded for my Little Red Riding Hood costume.”
